Melissa Hewitt

Hygienist

Melissa is a very friendly and gentle hygienist, who is originally from Cavan. Since

graduating from Trinity College Dublin, she has worked with Colm Smith Dental

and has a particular interest in treating nervous and special needs patients. Melissa’s ability to put patients at ease is one of her assets. She focuses on preventive oral

care for both children and adults, including those with special needs. Her main aim is to prevent and control periodontal (gum) disease and dental decay. She is trained in providing fissure sealants, to prevent dental decay in children. She also engages in oral health instruction advice and counselling in relation to oral hygiene, diet and lifestyle habits such as smoking. Through her years of experience in dentistry she can communicate well with patients and can assess their individual needs.

Outside of work Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, travelling, going to the gym, circuit training and running from short distance races to long, to raise money for various charities and local communities such as breast cancer awareness and palliative care.
