Colm Smith Dental and Specialist Centre was established in a small rural town in 1985 by Colm and Lucia Smith. As it was approximately seventy miles away from any specialist dental services, a new model was developed incorporating visiting specialists, consultants and professors from the UK, in- house specialists, to an increasing number of dentists and hygienists. The successful model expanded and is now a team of 36 people providing dental and specialist treatment to Cavan, Monaghan, Louth, Dublin, Meath, Westmeath, Longford and Leitrim and Northern Ireland. Our hard-working, highly professional and dedicated team now consists of 3 specialists, 10 dentists, a Clinical Dental Technician, 3 hygienists, 11 nurses, 6 administrative staff, an orthodontic technician and a dental technician. We acquired a second centre in Monaghan town 5 years ago and using the same model, is expanding rapidly. We regularly organise joint orthodontic, oral surgery, endodontic and restorative clinics in both centres to provide comprehensive multidisciplinary treatment. We now provide specialist treatments and many ‘dental hospital’ treatments in-house.
